Monazite Recovery by Magnetic and Gravity Separation of Medium Grade Zircon Concentrate from Senegalese Heavy Mineral Sands Deposit

Gravity, magnetic and electrostatic separation methods allowed to obtain different titanium oxide concentrates (ilmenite, leucoxene, rutile) varieties of zircon (premium zircon, standard medium grade standard) from Senegal’s heavy mineral sands. During mining separation, monazite, which is a paramagnetic mineral, was found in non-negligible concentration 0.57 wt% on average the also contains 37.96 44.46 oxides. Magnetic gravity tests were carried out Medium (MGZS) produce monazite concentrate at Eramet Ideas laboratory. 1.5 teslas intensity resulted recovery 94.8% MGZS. Gravity recovered 76.6% The combination these two treatment can thus three MGZS (a concentrate, concentrate).
